10 Wedding Planning Dont's

As your wedding date comes closer and closer, there are countless exciting moments that you should cherish, however, brides and grooms should keep in mind that wedding details can get overwhelming.

Lucky for our Verano Events' insiders, we have put together a list to help you avoid some major slip-ups when it comes to your wedding planning.

1) Don’t Try To Be “Super Bride”

Living in the era of DYI Pinterest boards and countless YouTube tutorials, brides might be tempted to go into the details on their own. However, because key is on the details, there are so many of them!

Although some of these DYI hacks are pretty great, there are tasks that require the help of a professional to ensure everything goes smoothly the day of the wedding.

2) Don’t Over-do DIY Projects

While DYI decor adds a personal touch to your wedding decorations, it is not a good idea to over-do it for several reasons:

  • Certain projects take a lot of time and patience to complete; you do not want to leave a project completed halfway after working on it for 2 hours.

  • Some projects require too many materials and this too can become expensive.

  • There are decorations and centerpieces that you can purchase at a budge, but labor is the deal-breaker as nor you, or your family want to work on your special day.

3) Don’t Become a “Bridezilla” With Your Closest Ones

Yes, wedding planning is overwhelming and exhausting, however, those closest to you only want you to succeed and have a great wedding experience.

Please remember your family, friends, and wedding planner are there for support and deserve your respect and consideration. Take time off planning for a moment if you feel like you need a break.

4) Don’t Make Guests Wait

The best way to avoid wedding-day chaos when it comes to guest entertainment is creating a well-structured timeline. A successful wedding day involves a smooth transition from event to event within the wedding day.

We are looking to avoid long waiting times from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception.

5) Don’t Forget About Your Fiancée

Some brides can get so excited about the wedding details that they forget to include their fiancées in the plans. While many of us dream of our wedding day as little girls, however, it is important to include your partner if they are interested in helping out with some ideas.

6) Don’t Follow Trends All The Time

While following trends adds a chic element to your wedding decorations, it is important to keep a certain part of your style in the details. Just remember this is your day and will live forever in your memory and your pictures.

7) Don’t Let Your Parents Take Over Guest List

In some cases, parents will help the bride and groom with wedding planning and expenses, however some parents may get carried away with the amount of people they wish to add to your guest list.

Make sure to discuss what is important to you on the wedding day, especially if your wonderful parents are helping invest in the wedding of your dreams.

8) Don’t Compare Your Wedding To Anyone Else’s

Weddings range from large family ceremonies and extravagant parties to small intimate and gatherings with the closest to you.

No matter what kind of weddings you have attended before, never compare your wedding to others as this is your time to shine and express your own celebration of love at your own style.

9) Don’t Let Perfection Take Over

Let’s face it, everyone wants to have a perfect wedding, however, life isn’t perfect, right? As a matter of fact, flexibility is the most important factor when planning your wedding since it all depends on the season, and the location.

Therefore, it is best to be prepared with alternatives in case anything falls through.

10) Don’t Leave Everything For The Last Minute

A successful wedding requires planning in advance. An effective way to keep track of your wedding planning activities is to create a week-to-week or month-to-month timeline. It is important to pace yourself as wedding planning can last for months.

Always make sure you check in with your wedding planner for updates.

We hope this list is helpful to our Verano Events' insiders, and as always happy planning!
